It's a strange neighborhood--an edgy, vibrant area, though if you walk
away from Market street a block in any direction you'll find quiet
tree-lined streets, some of the Bay Area's most-photographed Victorians,
and an urban style unique to the city.
Harvest Market is an answer to this style and also, sometimes comically,
a kind of shrine to it--an accidental mini Mecca. We try to keep the
latest sounds on the stereo, and a wide variety of tasty, wholesome,
quickie meals available for on-the-go types. Our world class soup and
salad bar (all of it homemade) feeds upwards of a thousand people a day.
We take particular pride in our produce section and aim to present a
living gallery of farm-fresh and organic fruits and vegetables every day.
We keep 200 fresh items available year round.
Our mission is to
source out and prepare the best available food and to present it with
style, professionalism and consistency. We maintain a commitment to
organic foods and sustainable agriculture, but do not support an eating
style based on rigid, abstract "health" standards. You might
call Harvest an "Urban fresh food store," as it reflects the
eating styles of our urban clientele. Or, to borrow language from
Patricia Unterman, a "spontaneous fresh food cafe."
We appreciate
your interest and invite you to contact our General Manager Mr. Gilles
Desaulniers (e-mail gilles@harvestranch.com) with any questions.
FEEDING YOU WELL
